Data and Identity Verification Consent
This consent applies when a learner, guardian, or instructor submits identity, licence, credential, vehicle, insurance, background-check, or related information to Drive Tutor Inc. ("Drive Tutor").
Information We Collect
Depending on the account and review type, Drive Tutor may collect a profile photograph, identity selfie, Ontario G1, G2 or G licence information from learners, Ontario G licence information from instructors, instructor credential information, 6D insurance documentation, municipal licence, criminal background-check documentation, vehicle information and photographs, document expiry dates, and information supplied to correct or replace a document.
Government identification is reserved for guardian verification where the guardian may not have an Ontario G1, G2, or G licence. For a guardian-managed account, Drive Tutor may collect the guardian's identification and selfie and the child learner's G1, G2, or G licence information. Drive Tutor does not require the child to operate a separate account.
Purposes
Drive Tutor uses this information to confirm identity and eligibility, review instructor credentials, protect users, prevent fraud and impersonation, administer account access, request updated or expiring documents, investigate safety or legal concerns, maintain an audit history of verification decisions, and comply with applicable law.
Drive Tutor currently uses authorized personnel to review submitted documents. A verified badge means that Drive Tutor completed its platform review based on the information available at the time. It is not a government endorsement and does not guarantee a person's conduct, skill, insurance coverage, or continuing legal compliance.
Document Versions
Guardian government IDs, licences, insurance documents, municipal licences, and background-check documents are retained as separate versions when replaced. Profile photographs, identity selfies, and vehicle photographs may be replaced by newer versions because they are maintained as current account images rather than permanent document histories.
Sharing and Processing
Verification information may be processed through Drive Tutor's secured service providers, including Supabase for authentication, database and private file storage. Access is restricted to authorized Drive Tutor personnel and service providers who require it to operate the service. Verification documents are not displayed publicly or shared with learners or instructors except where the user separately chooses to provide information or disclosure is legally required.
Drive Tutor may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, insurers, legal advisers, or other parties where required or permitted by law, or where reasonably necessary to investigate an incident, fraud, or a serious safety concern.
Retention and Withdrawal
Information is retained according to Drive Tutor's Data Retention and Deletion Policy. Some records may remain after account deletion where required for tax, fraud prevention, safety, dispute, insurance, or legal purposes. Consent may be withdrawn by contacting privacy@drivetutor.ca, but withdrawal may prevent Drive Tutor from completing verification or continuing to provide features that require verified status.
User Confirmation
By submitting verification information, the user confirms that the information is accurate, belongs to the person identified, has not been altered to mislead Drive Tutor, and may lawfully be provided for the stated purposes. Submitting another person's information without authority is prohibited.
Privacy questions may be sent to privacy@drivetutor.ca or mailed to Drive Tutor Inc., 120 Adelaide St. W, Suite 2500, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
